Recipe's preparation

    Honey Soy Chicken Wings
  1.

For a wonderful and delicious “cheap eats” dinner at home, try my easy Honey Soy Chicken Wings Recipe.

    Serves 4

1kg of Chicken Wings (to prepare the wings, cut the wing tip off & discard. Then cut between the wing and the drumstick bone – use these for the recipe). Place in a deep baking dish and set aside.

    In your Thermomix Jug add:

    3 Springs Onions – cut to 5cms

    4 Cloves of Garlic

And Chop on Speed 6 for 3 seconds, scrape side of your jug and Chop again on Speed 6 for 3 seconds.

    Pour over Chicken Wings

In your Thermomix Jug prepare the marinade, add:

    50 gm Honey

20gm Canola or Vegetable Oil (do not use Olive Oil)

60gm Kecap Manis (Sweet Soya Sauce, you can find this a any Asian grocer or Woolworths/Coles)

    10gm Light Soy Sauce

10gm Blended Dark Caramel Soya Sauce (You will only find this at any Asian grocer, I use the Jade Bracelet Brand, this will give your Chicken Wings a wonderful deep caramel colour. I also use this Caramel Soya Sauce in lots of my stir fry recipes. It keeps really well in your pantry and really gives your Asian dishes a wonderful depth of colour)

    ½ teaspoon of Seseme Oil

½ teaspoon of Ground White Pepper

    10gm of Cornflour

Pour over your Chicken Wings and coat well with the Marinade. I also like to sprinkle a small handful of Seseme Seeds over the Chicken Wings. Cover with glad wrap and place in the fridge for at least 30minutes to marinade. You can also do this the day before.

    To Cook, pre-heat oven 180 degree’s.

Remove glad wrap from the Chicken, add ½ cup or 120gms of water to the Chicken Wings and mix well. This will create a wonderful sauce.

Place Chicken in middle shelf of your oven and cook for 15mins, then give them a mix and place back in the oven.

Your Chicken Wings will take approximately 50 minutes to cook.

Once cooked, place in a serving plate and pour the sauce over the chicken.

I serve my Chicken Wings with Steamed Rice and Steamed or Stir Fry Vegetables, enjoy!

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
