- 70 g onion, or half
- 1-2 to taste green chillis, fresh
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 10 g dessicated coconut, (optional)
- 100 g water
- 1 clove garlic

1. Place onion, coriander, lemon juice, and chillis in the TM bowl and chop 10 sec / speed 7.
2. Scrape down sides and repeat.
3. Add salt and sugar and blend 3 sec / speed 8. Repeat if required.
4. Refrigerate till served.
Tip
It’s a great accompaniment as a dipping sauce for tikkas, samosa, koftas, and tastes great as a spread in kebabs, or sandwiches.
Variations:
1. Yogurt base - Add 1 – 2 tbsp of this to 200g of yogurt to make a green dipping sauce.
2. Mint – for a fresher taste, add 100 g of mint leaves to this recipe in step 2.

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. Agree something has gone wrong with this recipe. Didn't, and can't see why you would need to add water as it's already quite liquidy, it's almost like the last three ingredients (water, coconut and garlic) have been tacked on as not mentioned in method. Even using just the six ingredients that are mentioned in the method the quantities seem out of whack and it wasn't particularly pleasant.
This didn’t work at all for me. I couldn’t work out when I was supposed to add the 100g water. I added it in step 3 but the mix was really really watery after that. I’m afraid this was nothing like any coriander chutney I’ve ever eaten. Both the texture and flavour were all wrong.
My dinner companions RAVED about this. We had it on crackers before and then with the collection of curries we'd all cooked. We all loved the fresh taste.
