- 1 kg purple plums, de-pipped
- 100 g sultanas
- 360 g brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

- Place garlic, onion and glace ginger in bowl and chop 3 sec / sp 7. Scrape down sides.
- Add sultanas, sugar, salt and dry mustard and mix 2 sec / sp 4.
- Cook 15 min / 100 C / Reverse / sp 2 with simmering basket on top.
- Cook further 15 min / 90 C / Reverse / sp 2 with simmering basket.
TM5 users may want to cook this extra 15 mins at 95 or 98 C.
Check if thickened to your liking and cook extra 5 mins if necessary. (It does thicken a bit more when cooled.)
Tip
Glass jars of any size can be used (eg salsa, jam, vegemite etc). Jars and lids can be sterilised in a saucepan of boiling water on the stove, or in the dishwasher.
Unopened chutney will last 12 months in the fridge.
If you want to store out of the fridge, chutney must be processed in a hot water bath for 10 minutes.

Yum.
Had a lot of plums going a bit soft so this was ideal. Used fresh ginger, and cooked for a bit longer on varoma to thicken up more as suggested by others. Really tasty.
Very tasty - the second time cooked I used chopped fresh ginger (from a bottle) and raisins as substitute for sultanas. I also chopped apples and plums less making it a little chunkier ie speed 4 7 secs. Thanks for a great recipe to use up all my blood plums!

My first time making a chutney in a thermomix. I didnt have any glace ginger so converted to a 1/4 tsp of dried ginger instead. I dropped the sugar to 250 grams and used 100 grams apricots instead of sultanas. I also added a teaspoon of raspberry balsamic vinegar. I cooked for an additional 8 minutes varoma on reverse speed 2 at the end as I found it too runny and this thickened it. I used the steam basket through the whole process and not the measuring cup. Beautiful chutney.
Yum this is delicious!!! I used the apricots as suggested and did 5-10mins on varoma temp came out perfect every time (I made 3 batchs) almost wish I hadn’t given away 2 jars already and kept it for myself

Delicious! I used apricots instead of sultanas as suggested by comments above. Also cooked additional 5 mins for a TM5. Lovely with some Brie
Great chutney. Just made my second batch but used dried apricots instead of sultanas. Each batch had to add 15mins of varoma to get correct consistency but maybe that due to me using my TM21 as I dont have TM5. Perfect chutney thank you.
Fantastic. I made this for the first time a couple of days ago, and have made 2 batches now. Still have lots of plums to use, so thinking I will make some more. This is going to so yummy with lots of different things. This recipe has definetly made it to my Recipe Collection to use again someday. Thankyou!!
Thanks for that, Carol Millington. I haven't made a batch this year yet, and last year I used my old TM31. I'll have to use my TM5 next time and see if I need to add a hint to the recipe! I think that the TM5 heats a little more slowly.
