Ingredients

  • 3 flour all purpose, (3 cups)
  • 3/4 cocoa powder, (3/4 cups)
  • 2 Coconut sugar/raw sugar, (2 cups)
  • 2 baking soda, (2 teaspoons)
  • 1 salt, (1 teaspoon)
  • 1 Beetroot, (1 can or 1 fresh)
  • 1 warm water, (1 cup)
  • 3/4 apple sauce, (3/4 cups)
  • 1/3 canola oil, (1/3 cup)
  • 1 vanilla extract, (1 teaspoon)

Recipe's preparation


    1. Instructions (Thermomix)

      1.Place all ingredients in Thermomix bowl and blend on speed 9 for 10 seconds or until smooth.


    2. 2.Preheat the oven to 160 degrees .  

    3. Skip to step 5 below.

    4. 1.Place beetroots in a large pot and cover with about 2 inches of water. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes until beets are soft and can be easily pierced with a knife. Remove from heat, drain, and allow beets to cool for 15-20 minutes. Once cool enough to touch, remove skins and place in a food processor. Blend until smooth. Set aside.

    5. 2.Preheat the oven to 160 degrees .  

    6. 3.In a large bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

    7. 4.In a separate bowl whisk together beet puree, apple sauce, water, canola oil, and vanilla extract. Add the wets to the dries and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

    8. 5.Transfer to prepared cake tin  and bake for about 45-60 minutes, until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for 20 minutes. Flip out onto a cooling rack and cool completely.
