Ingredients
Dough
- 100 grams coconut oil
- 100 grams Rapadura Sugar
- 2 tablespoon Flax/Linseed Meal
- 4 tablespoon water
- 1 portion egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2-3 tbsp brewers yeast, Depending on the taste you like - it's strong - but the more the better!
- 20 grams chia seeds, Any colour
- 170 grams Spelt Wholemeal Flour, You can use regular plain flour if you like but I prefer spelt
- 140 grams rolled oats
- 200 grams choc chips, See Tip for alternatives

1. Mix Flax/Linseed meal and water in a small bowl and set aside
2. Cream coconut oil & sugar, 10 seconds speed 5.
3. Add egg, vanilla, flax/linseed meal, 10 seconds speed 5.
4. Add spelt flour, baking soda, brewers yeast, salt and chia seeds, 30 seconds speed 3
5. Add oats & choc chips (or alternative like sultanas, cranberries etc) and combine 30 seconds, speed 2 reverse.
6. Scoop onto lined baking trays
7. Bake 10-15 minutes depending on speed and heat of oven.
Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Tip
The ingredients that encourage milk production are oats, flax/linseed meal and brewers yeast. The old school thoughts on milk production are have a big glass of stout (dark beer) - it's foul though and these days alcohol consumption whilst breastfeeding is definitely not recommended! So brewers yeast in yummy cookies is a far better alternative!
The original recipies i adapted from had a lot more sugar - I have used rapadura and less of it and they're still delish.
You can use any 'addition' you like. I use a mix of dark and white choc chips - other nice combos are choc chip and sultantas, white choc chip and cranberry, or coconut.

I have tried a few lactation cookie recipes, and this is a good one. I added coconut to this and they were really tasty. I would usually add hazelnuts or almonds, but didn't have any available, so will definitely try this next time.
I think the brewers yeast makes these dense so they are very filling. I will be making these again- Thank you.

Used 3 tbs of Brewers yeast and 80g rice malt syrup instead of rapadura. Have made them twice now, once with 100g of 70% dark chocolate & the other with 100g saltanas and both were really good and sweet enough for me.
Made these today for myself and a friend who is also bf. I added white chocolate chips and cranberries and they are devine. too early to tell in they will help increase the supply but worth making for taste alone.
Thanks for posting a healthier version of the traditional lactation cookies, which are just as delicious! I added 3 heaped tbs of brewers yeast and my mixture was a bit too crumbly. Next time if I add more dry ingredients than stated in the recipe I'll add extra coconut oil (or almond milk) to compensate. Thanks again, YUM

Absolutely delicious! Must admit wasn't sure when I was putting them together, the brewers yeast smelt grose (never made milk cookies before), but was pleasantly surprised!
I used 100g cranberries and 100g sultanas, instead of chocolate. I have to hide them from my kids!
