Recipe's preparation

    METHOD
  1. Preheat oven to 180 deg C or 350 deg F

Place chai tea leaves and boiling water in a small bowl, mix to combine, set aside

Place sugar in jug and mill for 3 seconds, speed 10, set aside. No need to wash the jug.

Place butter in jug and melt, 3 minutes, 60 deg, speed 2. Allow to cool to 37 deg in jug

Add flour, milled sugar, mixed spice, eggs, milk, vanilla extract and chai tea mixture to melted butter in jug and mix for 20 seconds, speed 5. Batter will be smooth

Pour into a well greased 3 litre capacity bundt tin, cook in oven on shelf 2 (from bottom of oven) for 30 - 35 minutes or until cooked (test with a skewer which should come out clean)

Invert onto a wire tray and leave (in tin) to cool for ten minutes

Gently remove tin and allow to cool completely before serving

Tip

This recipe has been adapted for TM5 from a Donna Hay magazine. It is a deliciously easy cake to make.

Use chai tea bags (leaves removed from bags) more economical than purchasing a large box of leaves

The cake can be made in a 20cm round springform tin.

Dust with icing sugar before serving, add a few strawberries and a dollop of cream for an extra delicious treat. (optional)

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
