Recipe's preparation

    For mix
  1. place ingredients except for icing sugar and oil in TM bowl and mix for five seconds speed 4-5. Scrape down sides and stir with spatula then repeat for a few seconds to make sure mixture is lump free.

pour mixture into a plastic squeeze bottle with a nozzle. Batter is quite thick so make sure it has a hole large enough for the batter to pass through.

heat oil in a pan with a wide surface

test with handle of a wooden spoon, if oil starts to bubble immediately it is at the right temperature.

squeeze batter into oil in a squiggly pattern to make rough round shapes..do not overcrowd pan. Turn when golden then drain on paper towels. Dust with icing sugar

Tip

These treats are traditionally cooked using a round steel 'funnel' to keep them in shape but can be made freehand, a little more rustic but just as good. I have posted a recipe earlier to make homemade bisquik mix under versatile baking mix. Best eaten straight away while hot.
