This recipe would suit a cool day. My family loved the flavour, the meat was nice and tender(I used a budget rump steak). I added 1/2 MC of Parmesan cheese to the dumpling mix. After dicing the meat I ended up with 840gm which I used it all in this dish and I added some extra water but needn't have as it was a bit too runny after cooking. I thickened the gravy with cornflour. Hubby used leftover dumplings to clean his plate! We'll have this again...but in winter!
Awesome thanks for sharing a great recipe!
Yummo! I added 1/4 cup red wine and reduced the water. Also added a small chilli. Will definitely be making again.
Hi, what cut of beef is best?
Great recipe. I added mushrooms and extra tomato paste. Had never made dumplings before, great success! Thank you for posting.
First time to use the varoma - it is great !!
Used budget beef in recipe and it is so tender as well -
Would use a little less water next ime - maybe 500g
Wow! This is a great meal! I cooked exactly as written and it came out thick. I wasn't sure how big a 'nugget' was so made them a small sized ball - 5cm diameter I'd say at the most and they were perfect all the way through. The gravy was thick. I didn't clean out the bowl with the excess dough on the sides so I think that helped with the thickness of the gravy. I do have to say it didn't look inviting to eat but it was absolutely delicious. Thanks very much for this recipe.
Delish....easy to make. My first stew in my new thermo.
The kids winter favourite! i keep some leftover to make into pies for hubby's lunch
All my family loved this meal. We were all using our dumpling to lick the thermo bowl clean.
A clear winner with my 10, 7, 4 & 2 year old.
