Resulted in a very crumbly cake. Taste was quite good. I did add a syrup after baking but even so was quite dry. The mix was stiff going into the pan- I should have known better! Perhaps some yogurt and milk would help.

I thought it tasted very nice, but the orange flavour wasn't as strong as expected, plus it was lacking something. I might try with salted butter next time.

I used a California orange which many suggested. It still had a thick pith, so I peeled off the rind and then cut off the pith to avoid this. In addition I added a small mandarin. The total processed weight of both was 255 grams.

I used unsalted butter (215g) at room temperature, but will try salted butter next time.

Sugar x 140g (will try 150g next time).

    Poppy Seeds x 2TB

    Edmonds GF self-raising flour

Some of the comments suggested adding a few splashes of milk if batter a bit thick, but mine was okay without doing this. I'm wondering if using room temperature butter and size 7 eggs helped?

Cooked at 180 degrees standard bake.

Iced with a half mix of this recipe https://cookidoo.com.au/recipes/recipe/en-AU/r80204 - I added grated rind of one mandarin, plus used salted butter and only 1/2 tsp of vanilla.

Made the cake with lemons, I used 2 whole with skin and 1 without skin (just flesh) and took out all the seeds. I substituted butter for olive 180g olive oil but found it's a bit heavy, I will try 50/50 of vegetable oil/olive oil. I used 170g sugar. It turned out ok, nice flavour but as I mentioned it's a bit heavy.

First time making, delicious! Very easy to make. I did add a tsp vanilla and almond.

    Great recipe!

Delicious. I did reduce cooking time a little in fan forced oven.

The family's favourite cake. People complain whenever I decide to make something else.

    Better plant an orange tree.

Plm192: I'm doing it on the weekend with mandarins. Did you use the mandarines with the skin? Did yours taste bitter?

Nmaharesh: The spiced orange syrup recipe on Cookidoo is lovely for this cake. tmrc_emoticons.)
