I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
1. Place milk & butter in bowl, and mix on 37 degrees, speed 1 for 2 minutes.
2. Add in egg to milk mixture and mix speed 4, 5 seconds.
3. In this order - Add in Yeast, then flour, then the caster sugar & the salt last. Mix on speed 6 for 6 seconds to combine, then knead for 3 minutes
4. Place dough in a greased bowl and cover and place in a warm place to prove for 1 hour or until dough has doubled in size.
5. Once the dough is proved, knock down onto a floured surface and cut dough in half until you have 2 balls.
6. Roll each ball into a 25cm long log, then cut each log into pieces and roll each piece into a ball and place on piece of baking paper and let prove for a further 15 minutes.
7. While the dough balls are proving, warm up your deep fryer, or oil in a frypan/saucepan (I used solidified oil which is an animal fat that you find in the butter section at the supermarket), to 175 degrees.
8. Drop in 3-4 balls at a time and cook for 5 mins or until nice and brown/golden. Mine turned over on their own in the oil, but you may need to turn them manually
9. When cooked, take out and roll in sugar, then using a piping bag with the long nozzle (Or an old sauce bottle cleaned out and filled with jam), fill the donuts with jam
These taste Just like the donuts you get from the markets and fast food vans etc. Enjoy!
Method
Tip
You can use any flavor jam you like, but raspberry is generally what they use for traditional hot jam donuts

These were so delicious.
I made them dairy free by swapping milk for soy milk and butter for nuttelex. We made 16 portions, perfect size for the kids!
Oh no! This just did not work for me. I have a TM6 and followed the directions to a tee. The dough just did not rise. This makes me think I need to either knead more or change my yeast. Has anyone experiences issues with the dough not rising enough?
Fantastic recipe! Cooked in air fryer for about 6 mins (turned at 3 mins) at 160°C. I made 8 donuts from the mixture. I dipped cooked donuts in melted butter before rolling in sugar. I also preheated jam before piping into donut.
Excellent recipe, worked great, tastes exactly like the market ones we get. I made two batches and they are not going to last long. I purchased proper doughnut jam for them and they are just perfect. Perfect timing on the deep frying too so I guess I had them generally the right size, i cooked them in vegetable oil in my deep fryer. You can do a test one and then adjust the time if you have bigger or smaller doughnuts to cook to get them cooked to perfection. Thank you for sharing your recipe!
Fantastic. Really easy and delcious. Cooked in the air fryer 180oC 6mins, turning 1/2 way.
Mlromanin:same in my house
Made these donuts today and I only have one complaint. It only made 11. I'm going to have to double at least the next batch.
They were as light as a feather and really did taste like the market ones. Will definitely make again.
these were a massive hit with the family.

Air fryer for me too, 5-6 mins at 180, no need to turn. Had a bowl of melted butter that I dipped the doughnuts into before rolling in raw sugar and cinnamon. Used the syringe trick for getting the jam in too.
Lmckenna19: just wondering what you mean by line the airfryer basket? do you just brush it with oil? Thanks so much for sharing the instructions!
