Homestyle Shepherds/Cottage Pie

  • 6-8 potatoes/sweet potatoes
  • 200-400 grams grated cheese
  • to taste Milk
  • to taste Butter
  • 1 portions onion
  • 1 portions carrot
  • 1 portions zucchini
  • 30 grams olive oil
  • 700-1000 grams Beef/Lamb mince
  • 1 level tbsp Vegetable stock paste
  • 1 heaped tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 heaped tablespoons Gravy mix of choice
  • 500 grams liquid beef stock plus extra
  • 1 heaped tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 heaped tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 heaped tablespoons Bbq sauce
  • 1 heaped tablespoons tomato sauce

Recipe's preparation

    Mash Potato (top of pie)
  1. Prepare and cook potatoes as you like - use a mixture of sweet and white potatoes if you wish. Use milk and butter to mash.

  2. Mince filling
  3. Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a round deep-sided baking dish (22 cm) and set aside.

  4. Place carrot and zucchini into mixing bowl and chop 3-5 sec/speed 5. Transfer chopped carrot and zucchini into the bowl and set aside.

  5. Place onion into mixing bowl and chop 3 sec/speed 5. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl with spatula.

  6. Add olive oil and sauté 3 min/120°C/speed 1.

  7. Add 700-1000g lamb/beef mince cook 5 min/100°C/Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" /speed 1.

  8. Add 500g Beef Liquid Stock, Vegetable stock paste, 1 tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 tbsp Worcester Sauce, 1 tbsp Tomato Sauce, 1 tbsp BBQ Sauce and tomato paste and cook 5 min/100°C/Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" /speed 1.

  9. In a small bowl combine the Gravy powder and a little bit of beef stock to make a thick paste, then add into Thermomix mixing bowl. Add reserved carrot and zucchini and cook 5 min/100°C/speed 1.

  10. Shepherds/Cottage Pie
  11. Pour mince mixture into prepared baking dish and top with mashed potato and 200-400g cheese (until covered on top). Bake for 25-30 minutes (180°C), or until cheese is cooked to your liking.

  12. let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

The amounts given for the sauces are a guide, use more or less to your liking!
