Ingredients

Savoury mince pie (adapted from Culinary Ginger)

  • 3 sheets Puff pastry
  • 500 g beef or lamb mince
  • 1 level tbsp vegetable oil
  • 170 g Yellow Onion, Peeled and quartered
  • 140 g carrot, Peeled and chopped
  • 1 level tbsp flour
  • 1 level tbsp tomato paste
  • .60 litres Worcestershire sauce
  • .300 litres liquid beef stock, Low sodium if possible
  • 1 to taste salt
  • 1 to taste pepper

  • 1 egg, Beaten to brush on pastry

Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Butter 24 cm pie dish
  2. Add onion and carrots to bowl. Chop speed 3 sec 7
  3. Add oil and sauté 10 min 100 deg speed 1
  4. Add remaining ingredients and cook for 45 min 100 deg reverse speed 1
  5. If required cook again for 15 min Varoma Reverse speed 1 until stock is reduced
  6. Add additional salt and pepper to taste. Drain excess fat. Allow to cool


    Line dish with pastry, fill with savoury mince, cover with pasty, brush with egg wash

    Bake for 30 min or until golden brown
