Ingredients

falafel

  • 1 brown onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 bunch parsley
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 can Chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoon plain flour, may need more if too sticky
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 --- squeezed lemon
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, any oil is fine

Recipe's preparation

    falafel
  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees and spray oven tray with oil or baking paper.

    1.Place onion and garlic in TM bowl chop speed 7 3secs or until chopped.

    2. Add oil and saute veroma 3 mins speed 2

    3. Add spices and cook for a further 1 min on veroma speed 2

    4. Add carrot and parsley and chop speed 5 for 5 seconds

    5. Add chickpeas, baking powder and blend speed 5 for 5 seconds.

    6. Add flour and lemon juice mix speed 5 for 5-10 seconds until everything is combined, if the mixture is too sticky add a little more flour.  

    7. Shape mixture into 12 small patties and plae into prepared tray, brush or spray with some oil, this will make them go brown.

    8. Bake for 25 minutes, turn half way through baking and spray with more oil if needed.

    Really didn't like this. I had to use more than double the flour in the end and they were still wet. They were a bit tasteless (maybe because of the amount of flour) and took twice the time to cook. I doubled the recipe as the last comment said the portions were small and had to throw the left overs away as no one wanted to eat them.

    These were delicious. Our family really enjoyed these. Though next time I will double the recipe as it wasn't quite enough. (2 adults and 3 and 1/2 kids).
