I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

    Sweet Chilli Sauce
  1. Chop onion, apple, chillis, garlic. Sp 7, 2-3 seconds.

  2. Add remaining ingredients. Cook Varoma temperature, Sp 2, 30-40 minutes, until sauce is thickened to your liking. MC off, basket on top to reduce spatter.

  3. Pour into storage jar.

Tip

Chilli quantity is dependent on taste. I used the long red Chillis that were labelled mild. Removing the seeds will reduce the spiciness if a milder sauce is desired. By adding apple, I was able to reduce the sugar quantity, and it also helped thicken the sauce. This recipe made just under 2 cups of sauce.

I don't use a lot, and it has lasted in the fridge for 3 months so far.

I used 5 chillis deseeded, and it was perfect for us. I cooked for 40 min the first time, and it was too thick, so the next batch I did 35 min and it was perfect. Have made it heaps of times since then. Thanks.

    I added,
    5 tomato’s
12 chilli’s 3 with seeds in and the rest deseeded.
    1 cup dried fruit(cranberries)
    1/2 the sugar
    slice of ginger

Delicious on its own with cheese and crackers, in a sandwich. Not hot at all,

5 stars from a chilli fanatic. I used habenaros because your run of the mill chilli's wouldn't have been hot enough. I gave this as a gift and the recipient was so stoked. He said great favour and a nice burn. It was thick but not jam consistency and maybe just over a cup. I have been told to keep this recipe on file. Thanks

Hi Tammy, I think you increased the sugar. The recipe says 150 g. That may have caused it to thicken more. Also, the longer you cook it, the thicker the sauce. Try checking the thickness at 20 mins and monitor it regularly from then on.

I've never had that problem.  Are you using the tm31? You could try reducing the temperature to 100 and increasing the cooking time. If you have the tm5, I think varoma temperature is higher and that could also be the cause.

Just finished it and the consistency is of jam, quite hot with 8 chillies! Mine made 250 ml, 1 cup. Tastes sweet and hot.

Mine is bubbling out the top as I write this and making s terrible mess! Did anyone else have this problem?

I think this is more the consistancy of a chilli jam. Next time I will try blending at the end of the cooking time to produce a sauce?  5 chillis, deseeded, were enough heat for me. Overall recipe has a nice flavour.
