Ingredients

  • 1 edc sweetpastry recipe

  • 240g Pitted Dried Dates
  • 170g Milk
  • 1tsp bicarb
  • 200g pecans, for topping
  • 250g almonds or pecans, i used almonds cos cheaper!
  • 3 Eggs, Large
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 1tsp cinnamon
  • 100g Maple syrup
  • 50g unsalted butter melted
  • 50g bourbon or spirit of choice, i used grand mariner as had no bourbon

Recipe's preparation

  1. follow edc instructions i used 24cm loose based tart tin,put baking paper and weight down with pastry weights then blind bake on medium heat till brown approx 12mins remove beans bake further 12mins,keep eye on it i over cooked mine !

  2. filling

     put milk/dates in saucepan and heat till just below boiling  add bicab stir and set aside to cool.

     

    chop almonds use turbo in 2second blocks you want chopped not paste tmrc_emoticons.)

    add sugar,eggs,cinnamon and mix on reverse for 5-10secs/rev/ speed 4

    add date mix/maple syrup/melted butterspirit of choice and mix again 5-10secs/rev/speed4 tioll combined

     

    pour into pastyry case and top with pecans in pattern cook for approx 30mins it should be set not wobbly if you gently shake tart.cook in slow oven watch heat reduce if brown to quickly.

     

    leave in tin for at least hour before serving 

     

     

     

Tip

this is a rich tart good for special occasion,you can do with all pecans if you can afford it ha ha.serve with thick cream or icecream
