I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
chop onion - 3 seconds / speed 6 (set aside)
Dice potatoes and place in internal basket with 500g of water to steam - 15 mins / 120C / speed 3
{this step can be done prior and added back in cold at this stage}
Once potatoes are cooked - remove internal basket and empty water.
Add back onion and potato to the mixing bowl, along with all the other meatball ingredients. Combine - "Counter-clockwise operation" speed 4 / 45 seconds
Roll into walnut sized balls and fill both varoma dish and tray.
Wash out mixing bowl and add all of the ingredients for the cream sauce. Place the varoma on top and cook - 25 mins / varoma temperature / speed 4.
Once cooked add cream sauce to 1L Thermoserver to keep warm and you can brown the meatballs in a fry pan very quickly if you desire.
If you are lucky enough to have two Thermomixes - you can be cooking the mash potato at the same time as the meatballs using the recipe from your preferred recipe in the Basic or Everyday Cookbook.
OR-
Add butterfly to mixing bowl and peel and dice potatoes until they 2/4 fill the mixing bowl. Add a dash of pure cream, a dash of milk, a generous pinch of salt flakes and cook - 25 mins / 100C / speed 1.
Once finshed add 60g of butter and a pink more salt and mash - 30 seconds / speed 3

Tip
These taste exaclty like the meatballs found at IKEA as I adpated the recipe based on an IKEA cookbook.

Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

So disappointed. I was so excited to make these. Folllowed recipe exactly as written. Meatballs were mooshy and very bland, Sauce was okay but definitely didn't taste like Ikea sauce to me.
I have a TM6. I placed the meatballs in the varoma tray and varoma dish but after 25 min they seemed a bit raw.
what have I done wrong?
This was so good, very quick and easy. Everyone loved it and we will definitely be having it again
This is amazingly delicious. I brown the meat balls slightly before placing them in the varoma.
This was better than ikea, so delicious kids cleaned their plates and had seconds was simply lovely real comfort food yum
A few changes as I didn't have a few ingredients. But it was still a hit and my husband who loves the Ikea version said to put this on our dinner rotation. I have 2 thermomix bowls so rolled the meat balls while I cooked the potatoes for the mash and when the meat balls were cooked just butterflied the mash and it was still warm after sitting for 25 mins in the bowl.
