Recipe's preparation

    Herby Seed Crackers
  1. 1. Put the sunflower seeds, salt and garlic in to the Thermomix bowl.  Blend for 10 - 15 seconds, till the seeds take on a dense flour-like consistency.  2. Add the sesame seeds, herbs and oil, then Turbo /1 sec / 2 or 3 times to combine.  3. With the motor running on Speed 2, slowly add 2 tbsp water, one tablespoon at a time over 6 seconds.  Check and scrape down the bowl before adding another 1-2 tbsp in the same manner if required, until the mixture comes together with a dough like consistency.4. Transfer the mixture to a baking tray (32cm x 42 cm) and knead slightly, it may be a little crumbly, so don’t worry.  Place a sheet of baking paper on top of the dough.  Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to about 5mm (1/4”) thick, then remove the top sheet of baking paper.  5. Using a sharp knife, score crisscross lines into the dough, to create about 16-20 crackers about 6cm square.Optional: sprinkle some finely grated parmesan cheese on the crackers, as seen in the photo, before baking. Bake at 180C for 10-15 minutes or until lightly golden brown.  Allow to cool completely on the baking tray.  Using your hands, break into crackers along the scored lines.  They will keep in an airtight container in a cool dark place for up to 2 weeks. 

Tip

A tasty snack to take on a picnic, with some avocado or humus on top or if you use some Parmesan cheese, they are great on their own.

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
