I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
- Lightly grease a baguette tray, or line a baking tray with a thermomat or baking paper.
- Add water, sugar, yeast, flour, salt and oil to the mixing bowl. Using Dough mode, knead for 2 minutes.
- Turn the dough onto a thermomat, or a floured surface. While the bowl is upside down, twist the bottom of the blade to remove the dough from the bowl.
- Using floured hands, divide the dough into two pieces. Form into long rolls and place into prepared baguette tray or baking tray. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 15 mins.
- Preheat oven to 200°C
- Cut the top of the baguettes diagonally with a sharp knife. Brush lightly with water. Bake in the oven for 25 mins at 200°C. Let cool and serve.
Tip
These Baguettes are great to make into garlic bread. Once cooked, allow them to cool on the tray for 30mins. In this time, make the garlic and herb butter recipe on Cookidoo. Rather than roll the butter into a cylindar, I flatten it between baking paper. This allows it to cool faster in the fridge. Once the baguette is cooled and the butter has reset, cut the baguette in half lengthways, top with garlic and herb butter (and grated cheese for cheesy garlic bread) and bake in preheated oven at 200°C for 12 mins.
One Baguette would make 10 pieces of garlic bread / 5 pieces from each half. If only 5 serves are needed, simply bake one half of a baguette for your garlic bread, then wrap the others with baking paper over the garlic butter and foil around the baguette and freeze until needed. To cook from frozen, add approx 4-6mins extra to your cooking time.
