Recipe's preparation

  1. Add warm water to bowl.
  2. Add sachet of dried yeast and a pinch of the sugar around edge (ie. not on top of blade) so that the yeast can activate in the warm water (can give a little stir with the spatula to help it along).
  3. Next add remaining ingredients, dry first (flour, sugar, salt) followed by wet (oil and egg).
  4. Gentle stir setting"Gentle stir setting" Mix on speed 4 for 10 seconds.
  5. Dough mode"Dough mode" Scrape down side of bowl, then knead for 2 mins 30 secs using dough function.
  6. Tip dough onto Thermomat, make into a ball, lightly wrap in Thermomat and leave in a warm place to rise for at least an hour.
  7. While dough is rising pre-heat oven to 150 degrees.
  8. After one hour, split dough into 3 equal parts. On the Thermomat, roll each part into 3 ropes, pinch one set of ends together, then plait together as you would with hair. Pinch end together to finish.
  9. Next make an egg wash by lightly beating egg and water with a fork. Lightly brush over loaf. Finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
  10. Bake until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom (approx. 30 mins).

Tip

Any leftovers make a yummy French toast.

    Recipe is created for
    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
