This is yum! My family don't like mushrooms so pulverising them was great for me. Provençal's I've had in the past have been a bit more tomatoey so I added some tomato paste. This one will last a lot of meals so will be putting some in the freezer for a lazy winter's night!
Hi there, RhondaH. I know it's an old comment, but just thought I'd say that cooked red wine is safe in pregnancy, as the heat eliminates all the alcohol. It is effectively cooked out of the wine.
I used port instead of red wine and an extra spoon of stock powder and it was delicious. Even have enough leftovers to go in the freezer.
I found the meat a bit too tough so extended the cooking time by about 20-30 mins and it was much better. Also added the extra TM stock as suggested by others. I didn't mind the mushrooms being pulverised because the kids didn't see them and there were no complaints. A very tasty casserole.
Very tasty! Go easy with the TM veg stock as I found it a little salty. Yes the mushrooms did pulverize, if you want them whole perhaps add them in at the last cooking stage.
I've had my Thermomix for a week and have used it every day to get more confidence and experience. For a new user, this recipe was a good learning experience. Instead of mashed potato I baked some home made bread (made in the TM) which was also a first time!
The casserole itself tasted good. I didn't add the Red Wine, because I'm pregnant, or the basil but everything else was exact. The mushrooms seemed to disappear, I could not identify them in the end product and I added an extra Tbsp of Stock Concentrate as I thought it needed a little bit more flavor. My husband enjoyed it and will be taking left overs to work.
Thanks for the recipe.
