Ingredients

Beef Stew

  • 1 onion, peeled and quartered
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 20g olive oil
  • 500g beef 2cm cubes, (chuck or blade steak is best)
  • 1 heaped tbsp meat stock concentrate or 2 beef cubes
  • 400g Can of Corn Kernels
  • 400g can of diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 100g sliced mushrooms
  • 1tbs Corn Flour
  • 3tbs Milk

Recipe's preparation

  1. Chop onion and garlic at speed 6, 5 secs. Add oil and sauté Veroma temp, 3 mins Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" speed 2.

    Add the meat, stock, corn and corn juices, tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce and mushrooms. Cook temp 80, 60 mins Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" Gentle stir setting"Gentle stir setting" . Depending on your cut of meat you may like to cook for a further 30 mins, temp 80 Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" Gentle stir setting"Gentle stir setting" .

    In the last couple of mins thicken your stew by add in your corn flour mix (put the corn flour and milk in a cup and mix until smooth).

     

Tip

This is a lovely simple stew, yummy dipped with bread and butter, or used as a pie filling.

If you prefer a richer stew you could add 2tbs tomato paste, 50g red wine or 1tbs thyme or mixed Italian herbs.

    Just delicious! I put all the ingredients after the sauté. I didn’t put Worcestershire as my hubby doesn’t like it. I add carrot, capsicum, red wine, tomato paste, salt and pepper.
    I used diced beef which I had to cook for another 15mins. I did 90 temp de whole time.

    Had my thermie for a week....tried this tonight. Used creamed corn, added 35g red wine and capsicum and chives in lieu of mushrooms. Did not need to thicken it... Think that was because of the consistency of the creamed corn.....Served it with rice and it tasted beautiful.... Will cook it again. Thanks for the great receipe.

    This was soo good!! 

    I also added Sweet Potato, Celery, all spice, cloves  and some chilli!

    Def will make this again my family loved it! Big Smile

    great stew. Will definitely add potato, sweet potato and carrot next time I think it needs it. We added the red wine also

    Great base, but bland by itself. 

    I added a small sweet potato, 2 medium potatoes, celery and carrot. 

    Instead of using corn flour I used gravy powder.

    Found adding a bit of salt and pepper really brought out the flavour tmrc_emoticons.)
