Ingredients

Meaty Spaghetti Bolognese

  • 2 level teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 20 grams Butter
  • 150 grams tomato paste
  • 400 gram canned tomatoes, diced
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable stock, paste
  • pinch black pepper
  • 500 grams Beef, diced or minced
  • 250 grams spaghetti, dried
  • 80 grams Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 100 grams Tasty cheese, grated
  • 1 carrot, grated (optional)

Recipe's preparation

    Grate:
  1. If using TM to grate your cheeses, place in TM (all together) and grate for 10 seconds on speed 8. Set aside.
  2. If using TM to grate carrot, place cut of carrot in TM and grate for 2 seconds, speed 5. Set aside.
  3. Mince beef:
  4. *If using mince meat, skip this step*

    Remove any thick pieces of fat from steak and dice into small pieces. Place 1/2 of beef into TM and mince for 10 seconds on speed 6. Set aside and mince second half of beef. Remove from TM and set aside.
  5. Putting it together:
  6. Place garlic and butter in TM bowl and saute for 2 minutes, 100 degrees, slowest speed, MC off.

    Add tomato paste and cook for 1 minute, 100 degrees, slowest speed, MC off.

    Add diced tomatoes, carrot, pinch of black pepper and stock concentrate and cook for 3 minutes, 100 degrees, slowest speed, MC on.

    Place mince into simmering basket, scoop a spoonful of sauce over the top of mince and then put the basket into the TM. Cook for 15 minutes, 100 degrees, speed 1. Give mince a stir to break up half way through.

    * During this time I prepare my pasta on stove top. Alternatively you could prepare in TM before or after preparing the bolognese sauce *

    Tip mince out of the basket and into the TM bowl with the sauce. Cook for a further 5 minutes, 100 degrees, reverse, slowest speed.

    Add 3/4 of the reserved cheese to sauce and stir through with spatula.

    Serve sauce on top of pasta and top with the left over cheese!

Tip

I prepared my pasta on the stove top but you can cook it TM style before of after making the bolognese sauce.

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid.
