This is nice, but I only used half the amount of sugar. It was still a bit sweet so I added about 1/4 teaspoon salt and some freshly ground pepper. This really helped. White sugar will result in a brighter red colour. I added more spice and used 1/2 lime as I didn't have an orange.
So nice!
I didn't have an orange at home, so I just left it out, and it is still so beautiful. Will try with the orange next time.
Love this recipe! I made some for gifts this year, but luckily there was enough left over for us too. San Diego Hood Cleaning
Lovely flavor.
Decreased sugar to 200gm, could maybe reduce further, match to vinegar amount.
I used 500 Gm Beetroot and grated extra 3 secs speed 4.
Chinese 5 spice works beautifully. Made 2 medium jars. Well worth it.
Made this in a double batch, hot it tastes so yum, cannot wait to try on cold meat or cheese.
Had a lot of fresh beetroot and some oranges to use so this ticked all of the boxes. I used brown sugar and reduced it to 150g and substituted minced ginger for fresh. Don't think you could go wrong playing around with ingredients with this really. I also grated the ingredients at step 2 for a lot longer using speed 6. Not for too long though, I wasn't trying to make slush.
This is a winner.
Thank you a beautiful recipe I eat it with almost everything. I used ground ginger as I had no fresh. I took some to work yesterday and they loved it. Will be making lots more.
Really enjoyed this. Made the relish mid November and the whole house smelt like Christmas! Great way to use an oversupply of my garden beetroot. Thank-you for posting.
Tasty and easy but way too sweet for my tastes. Id cut the sugar and also probably use less (or no orange) as it had quite an overpowering orange flavour. Really nice though, just not 100% to my taste with the orange and super sweetness. Thanks for sharing!
This relish is really good. I would definitely cut the sugar down the next time.
