My family love, love, love this recipe!!! Thanks so much for sharing it. I've probably made it 6 times in the last month. After cooking for 20 mins I put it in the slow cooker with a bit more water and leave it for a couple of hours - delicious!
Beautiful recipe really yummy will definitely be trying this one again thank you!!
How much extra veggies did you add? Cheers
yum....perfect winter warmer. I did tweak it a little. Used more veggies, sweet potato, pumpkin, carrots and celery. As suggested I also used more split peas. I also doubled the cooking time as the split peas did not cook in the suggested time, and added a dollop of sour cream and a big tablespoon of Dijon mustard Before the final blitz.
Slight tweak... Another batch of this recipe and I have decided it is a tad runny for my liking... If you like a thicker soup, add another 1/2 cup split peas
I use my ham bones, bacon or smoked pork rind for two batches, you could probably even use them for a third. Makes a cheap and easy filling meal which is freezer friendly and great with toast in the winter. Hope you enjoy it.
