Recipe's preparation

  1. Chop the chocolate into small pieces and weigh it in the TM bowl.
Pulse a few times with the turbo function, then remove the powdered chocolate from the bowl and set it aside.
  2. Weigh the sugar and milk into the mixing bowl.
  3. Set the Thermomix to 100°C for approximately 5 minutes; the time will depend on the temperature of the milk at the start. Or Set 5 minutes/100°C/speed 1
  4. Add back the blitzed chocolate and cocoa powder and stir for 10 sec/speed 4 to combine.
  5. Pour the mixture into a flat tray and let it come to room temperature before freezing it. Alternatively, you can use an ice cream machine to freeze the mixture. If you're using the freezer method, once the mixture is frozen, remove it from the freezer then chop it into small pieces. Put the chopped mixture back into the TM bowl and blend it on speed 9 until it's whipped up like ice cream. The spatula can be used through the hole in the lid if needed. Serve immediately.

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Loved this recipe - and so did our lunch guests! I actually turbo'd some hazelnuts and added them to the mix at the end - magnificent!

Thanks for putting this recipe up it was a big hit at our cooking class was looking for something chocolatey for the sorbet and this so filled the brief!

It wizzed up so pretty in the bowl and is on our Easter menu at home... thanks for the tip about the cream  although it is quite decadent as it is.

    Happy Easter!
