I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
- This is a recipe that my mum's cooked ever since I was little
- Dry roast sesame seeds (10 mins/Varoma/sp 1)
- Let cool for 10 mins
- Mill for 10 secs/sp 7 and set aside
- Wash and dry bowl
- Prepare a tray with baking or non-stick paper
- Mix glutinous rice, rice flours and water for 2 mins, sp 4 until you get a doughy consistency.
- Put in a bowl and set aside
- Insert butterfly and add coconut cream; replace MC with simmering basket
- Bring to boil for 10 mins/Varoma/sp 1
- In the meantime, roll the glutinous rice mixture into small balls and place on the tray
- When coconut cream has boiled, add the sugar
- Cook for 15-20 mins/100 degrees/sp 1/"Counter-clockwise operation"
- As the blades are turning, gradually add the rest of the ingredients (except sesame seeds) through the hole in the lid
- Occasionally check if the sweet potato and the glutinous rice are cooked (the glutinous balls will be quite soft and tender)
- When everything is cooked, add the sesame seeds and stir for 30 sec/"Counter-clockwise operation" /sp 1
- Place in Thermoserver.
- Enjoy!
Tip
This recipe is suitable for both the TM5 and TM31
It can be eaten hot or cold and can be placed in the freezer for up to 6 months
Glutinous rice and rice flour can be purchased at any Asian grocery
For a healthier alternative, I use milled brown rice flour
For a "thinner" consistency, you can also use coconut milk instead of coconut cream, however, the coconut cream provides more flavour to the dish
Try to use the white skinned sweet potato with the purple flesh. If, however, you can't find it, the more popular orange one will taste just as good.

Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
