Recipe's preparation

    Sausage Twist
  1. 1. Pre-heat oven to moderately hot, 200 degrees. Make the Short Crust Pastry, as per EDC, rest in fridge for 15 mins. Boil eggs in basket, as per EDC, cool slightly, halve. Make breadcrumbs, as per EDC, set aside.

    2. Chop spring onions, garlic and parsley for 5 seconds on Speed 7.

    3. Add mince, breadcrumbs, chutney, sauces and spices. Mix on Reverse for 20 seconds at Speed 3, or until combined.

    4. Roll TMX pastry into a sheet approx 50 x 25 cm. Cut into 2 square halves.

    5. Spread 1/4 of mince mixture along the centre of each pastry sheet . Place 4 x egg halves facing down, on top of each mixture. Gently press remaining mixture over eggs halves.

    6. Make diagonal cuts on the pastry on each side of the filling at 2 cm intervals. Gently lift alternate strips of pastry over filling to resemble plaits, tucking ends under. Place twists on lined baking tray. Brush plaits with water/milk.

    7. Bake for about 35 minutes or until slightly browned.

Tip

If making in the TM5, you will need to use a double batch of the BCB Short Crust Pastry.

Delicious served with EDC Tomato Ketchup, and salad.

Can refridgerate, covered, for up to 2 days, once cooled.

For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
