Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 25 grams stale bread
  • 1 tsp rosemary, Fresh
  • 1 tsp thyme leaves, Dried/Fresh
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs, Dried/Fresh
  • 500 grams Beef mince
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp chicken stock paste, (see TM Chicken Stock Paste)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp mild paprika
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce

Herb and Tomato Sauce

  • 6 sprigs Thyme, Leaves Only
  • 1 Large carrot, Roughly Chopped
  • 1 tsp Oregan, Leaves Dried/Fresh
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs, Dried/Fresh
  • 50 grams olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 large onion, Halved
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes, (400 gram cans)
  • 1 tablespoons sugar
  • 200 grams water
  • 6 sprigs Fesh Basil, Leaves only

Recipe's preparation

    Herbs - If using Fresh herbs
  1. Chop Herbs.  Keep Rosemary, Oregano and Thyme seperately.

    Using Leaves only chop 7 seconds / speed 7

     

  2. Meatballs
  3. Make Breadcrumbs

    Tear bread and add to bowl.  Chop 7 seconds/speed 7

    Set Aside.  Clean and Dry Bowl

     

    Combine 1 tsp Italian herbs, 1 tsp chopped Rosemary leaves, 1 tsp Thyme leaves, mince, salt, stock paste, egg, tomato paste, paprika and tomato Sauce.

    Combine 30 seconds / Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" / Speed 3.5

    Repeat process if not combined.

    Put Mince into Thermoserver for present time and roll into balls using no more than 2 tablespoon each.

  4. Herb & Tomato Sauce
  5. Add Carrot and Thyme to Bowl, chop 7 seconds / speed 7.  Set Aside.

    Add Onion and Garlic, chop 4 seconds / speed 7.

    Add oil and salt and saute  3 minutes/ 120 degrees / speed 1 .  MC on.

    Add Carrot and thyme and saute for a further 1 minute / 120 degrees / speed 1.  MC on.

    Insert Butterfly whisk.  (will be used in reverse)

    Add remaining ingrediants except Basil.

    Put meatballs into Varoma dish and tray.  Set ontop of jug.

    Cook for 15 minutes / Varoma / Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" / Speed 3.

    When finished carefully add meatballs into the jub inbetween the whisk blades.

    Ensure this is still below the 2.2 L mark.  Do not overfill.

    Cook for another 15 minutes / 100 Degrees / Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" / Speed 3.  Use simmering basket instead of MC.

     

    When Finished pour into Thermoserver.  Stir in Basil and Parmesan.  Serve with pasta/couscous/bread

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid.
