Recipe's preparation

    Boiled Chocolate Cake
  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Line a 20cm round tin with baking paper.

Place water, sugar, butter, cocoa and bicarb soda into TM bowl. Cook for 5 minutes, 100C, speed 2.

Add ice, mix for 1 minute on speed 1 or until ice has melted and temperature is 50C or below.

Add eggs and SR flour and mix for 5 seconds on speed 4. Scrape down sides of bowl and mix for 5 seconds on speed 4.

Pour into prepared cake tin and bake at 180C for 50 minutes or when a skewer comes out clean.

Tip

This cake works well for all shapes of cake tins and makes a great base for decorated birthday cakes.

It makes lovely cupcakes too. Bake for about 25 minutes or 15 minutes for mini cupcakes.

Ice with your favourite ganache or icing recipe or slice and fill with strawberries and cream. I recommend my chcolate buttercream icing //www.recipecommunity.com.au/baking-sweet-recipes/chocolate-buttercream-frosting/86479

I love this recipe and have used it many times now for birthday cakes and cupcakes!  It's always a hit.  i have reduced the sugar to 280gr to be a bit less sweet.

Wow! These taste absolutely fabulous and the texture is really spongy and light. I made them for Fathers Day, probably the best cupcake I've made!! The icing is also lovely and rich, I might make it a little firmer for next time though.
