ABee:This is a regular "go to" now!
lovely cake the coffee and dates work well and the coffee icing is scrumptious
I have made this 3 times now. Each time have been complimented on it! We really like it as an afternoon tea slice
I liked this one, only cooked it for about 25-30 in a long tin and a small one also, mine was quite soft and moist. Couldn't really taste the dates much at all. I'd definitely make it again. Iced with coffee butter cream.
Thought I'd try this recipe for Saturday tea as it sounded really nice, but oh how awful it was! Dry and crumbly, and the coffee flavour did not link with the dates at all. The cooking time of 40 minutes must be for a very slow oven too because I took my cake out after about 25 minutes and already it was burnt-looking on the top. The whole cake ended up in the bin.
