Nutty Porridge

  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 Nutmeg
  • 300 g almonds
  • 100 g hazelnuts
  • 100 g sunflower seeds
  • 50 g flaxseeds
  • 50 g Protein Powder
  • 50 g psyllium husks
  • 100 g Shredded coconut
  • 20 g Cream or Yoghurt (to serve)

Recipe's preparation

    Nutty Porridge
  1. 1) Place cinnnamon sticks and nutmeg in TM Bowl, mill for 20 secs / speed 9 

     

    2) Add almonds, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds and sesame seeds, mill for 10 secs / speed 8 

     

    3) Add protein powder, psyllium husks and coconut, mix for 10 secs / speed 4

     

    4) To serve, mix 100g porridge mixture with 150ml boiling water, stir and allow to stamd for 3 minutes. Top with a dollop of cream or yoghurt

     

    VARIATION: Sprinkle nutty porridge mixture on yoghurt for another fibre-filled breakfast or snack. For vegan and dairy free option, use brown rice or pea protein powder - available from health food stores

     

    CARB OPTION: Top with diced fresh fruit such as apple and pear

Tip

Store porrdige mixture in an airtight container in the fridge. Psyllium husks are essential to this recipe, and can be purchased from health food stores

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities.
