Recipe's preparation

  1. Place sugar, yeast, milk and water into  thermomix bowl. Set to mix for 3 minutes at 37 degrees C on speed 2.  The mixture will become frothy

Add flour, salt, cream of tartar and mix for 10 seconds on speed 7

Then Mix fo 8 minutes at 37 degrees on speed 1

Leave in thermomix for about an hour - until it has nearly reached the top.

Add the baking soda and warm water and beat on speed 6 for 2 minutes.

Leave to rest for 10 minutes

Place  non stick egg rings on a greased  pre heated grill and using a quarter cup measure place into ring. It is important to cook slowly so that the crumpet cooks all the way through and bubbles up. This will take about 5 minutes.

Remove rings and turn over for about 30 seconds until slightly browned.

  2. Either serve immediately with your favourite topping- mine is maple syrup - or keep warm between a tea- towell on a cake rack. You can reheat them later in the toaster or eat them cold. After you have tried these you will never buy them from the shop again.

Any left overs can be frozen and toasted - but that is unlikely.

Wont buy crumpets again. I did them in the Kmart pie maker and they were delicious. Great size for the grand kids. Thank you

I'm not sure what happened to mine, but I cooked them (1/3 cup) for 8 minutes in the pie maker, turned over for 2 minutes, and mine were raw in the middle.

Rh0nda: you can freeze them individually in the Tupperware hamburger stacker.

Rh0nda: Thanks Rhonda for for sharing the pie maker side of cooking them ... very much appreciated. Love these homemade crumpets - have been a fan of them for a while.

These are amazing! First time making them and I followed the recipe to a tee.

I cooked them in my sunbeam pie maker and although it was a little time consuming it was much better than in my frypan because you don't have to worry about regulating the temperature of the pan. I cooked about 1/3 of a cup of batter for about 8 minutes before flipping them over and cooking for another 2 or 3 minutes.
Many thanks for this recipe, I will definitely be making these again and keeping some in the freezer (if they don't get eaten first!). Smile

Fantastic recipe , they came out like store bought but BETTER 😋

I have tried many recipes and none of them came out as light & airy as these ones .

I cooked them on pan for 8 min then flipped 2 min .

(Made a lot more than these , that's all I managed to get to take photo )

will definitely make again, on my favourites list .

    Best crumpet recipe 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Didn't have a great deal of luck with these. Cooked on lowest heat, used a bit less than 1/4 cup, got the bubbles, but by the time they were ready to flip they were very brown/close to burning on the bottom and not cooked through. I had to finish them in the oven to get cooked through. My toddler seemed to like them but I won't be making again

    Everyone loved these!
    They're on the favourites list.
Did the first batch in egg rings to see how we liked them, then bought crumpet rings which meant they worked much better in the toaster!
    thanks!
