I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

Jamie's "Good Old Chilli" - adapted for thermie
  1. Add: onion and garlic. Speed 5, 3 seconds.

  2. Scrape down sides. Add olive oil. Cook for 3 minutes, 100 degrees, reverse speed 1.

  3. Add: carrot, celery, zucchini, capsicum, tomatoes. Speed 5, 10 seconds

  4. Add: minced beef, balsamic vinegar, chilli powder, cumin powder, cinnamon powder, corriander powder, brown sugar, stock paste, red wine, tomato paste. Cook 10 minutes, 100 degrees reverse speed, soft.

  5. Take off lid and give a good mix with the spatula.

    Add: four bean mix.

Continue cooking 15 minutes, 100 degrees, reverse speed soft.

    Serve with rice.

Tip

Use spatula to give it a good mix half way through to ensure no lumps in meat.

Use simmering basket over lid to allow steam to escape and sauce to "reduce" if sauce is looking too runny.

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

This was tasty and made a big batch. We weren't a fan of the cinamon flavor so we'll leave it out next time. I substituted broccoli and cabbage as I didn't have any capsicum or celery. It didn't seem to make a difference as the veggies get chopped up finely. Thanks for sharing.

This recipe was yummy and easy but I agree with what others have said about being a bit watery and needing to be reduced down to get rid of the excess liquid.

This was very tasty. Added chilli flakes for extra heat. A little runny so added some cornflour but will leave mc off next time. Really enjoyed this

Lovely dinner thank you. A little bit watery, maybe next time I'll try 400g tomatoes.

The only thing extra I did was give everything a good stir by hand when first adding the beef, tomatoes, spices etc, otherwise stuck to the recipe and LOVED it. Best Chilli Con Carne I've ever had. Heaps of flavour, good hit of vege and it makes a lot.

this came out lovely after i reduced it for 20 mins. Not sure what tomato paste is.
I used 200 ml of stock from a roast beef dinner and half a tin of tomatoes and added a squirt of tomato purree, broccolli, fresh Marjoram, fresh mint and a T spoon of cacao powder for depth and goodness. Smile
