Ingredients

Pea & Ham Quinoa Pie

  • 100 g quinoa (rinsed well)
  • 900 g water, for steaming
  • 4 large eggs
  • 450 g Milk
  • 1 heaped teaspoon Hot English mustard
  • 150 g Ham diced
  • 120 g cubed tasty cheese
  • 4 shallots quartered
  • 1 handfull mint leaves
  • 450 g Frozen peas thawed
  • sea salt & pepper to taste

Recipe's preparation

    Pea & Ham Quinoa Pie
  1. Preheat Oven to 160oC, grease tart dish.

    Rinse Quinoa in a fine seive, place water into TM bowl and Quinoa into steaming basket, cook for 15 mins, Varoma Temp speed 4. Remove basket, set aside and clean and dry bowl.

    Place cubed cheese into TM bowl and grate 10 sec peed 8, set aside.

    Chop Shallots and mint 3 sec speed 7, add eggs, milk, mustard, mix 10 sec, speed 4.  Add all other ingredients into TM bowl and mix on 10 sec, speed 3 on reverse.

    Pour into prepared dish and cook for 45/50 mins, untill filling is set and the top is golden

     

Tip

When Steaming the Quinoa you can also choose to steam vegetables in the Varoma, and then store in your Thermoserver until your meal is cooked.

    Taste wasn't quite right! Not sure mint goes with this dish. Think there is also far too many peas, would suggest halving the amount.

    Not a great one for immediate serving.  I suspect it might be better the next day...a little too soft & runny immediately out of the oven so fell apart when I tried to serve it.

    But it is nice to have something a bit different from the usual quiche, and I like having the quinoa for the exta protein

    tmrc_emoticons.)   This pie is great ! I will be making this again. I made it it and had it in the freezer for a couple of weeks and then reheated - which worked out beautifully.  NOTE the quantity of peas is not quite right tho  ...    and frozen peas works well.
