Ingredients

Sauce

  • 1 brown onion, cut into quarters
  • 30 g extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 small red chilli, (optional)
  • 400 g diced beef, cut into 2cm cubes
  • 300 g frozen Egyptian baby okra, can be purchased at any middle eastern grocery store
  • 700 g Tomato puree sauce
  • 1 tsp salt, or more to taste
  • black ground pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp bi-carb. Soda, during cooking process (takes away the acidity in the sauce)

    Cooking the Bamya
  1. Place onion, basil leaves and chilli (if using) into TM bowl and chop for 4sec/speed 6.

    Add oil and saute for 4min/100 degrees/speed 1.

    Add beef and cook for 10min/100 degrees/speed 1/Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation"

    5min into cooking, add salt and pepper

    After cooking the beef, add the tomato puree and Okra. Cook for 25min/100 degrees/Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" /speed 1.5

    Add bi-carb soda 10 min during the cooking process.

    Serve with basmatti rice and garnsih with basil leaves or thinly sliced onions. Can be eaten with arabic bread as a substitute for rice.
