I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

    In the bowl...
  1. Place oats and mill for 5 seconds speed 10. This will make a creamier porridge.

Add all other ingredients. Cook 5mins/Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" /speed 2

Serve with berries or banana and milk.

Tip

This porridge will be quite wet to begin with upon serving, so leave it a minute or so and it will thicken up.

The strong taste of Brewer's Yeast can be countered by adding more stevia. Subsitute real sugar if you prefer a sweeter porridge. If you'd like to use dates instead of sugar, add them in with the oats in step one and blitz them together.

Oats, fenugreek and brewer's yeast are common galactagogues. Used regularly within the diet, their consumption has been known to increase milk supply in nursing mothers. I was sure I'd be unable to breastfeed following surgery, but I reserarched galactagogues and invented this porridge. I eat this every morning and I am now feeding my daughter almost exlusively. I also drink Mother's Milk Tea. If you feel you have a low supply, it's important you speak to a Lactation Consultant through the ABA (Australian Breastfeeding Association).

A note on Fenugreek - for it to be effective, a high enough dose is needed that you begin to smell a bit like maple syrup! Eating the porridge every morning is a good way to start.

Also, a tea can be made that assists milk production: see Drinks.

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
