I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

  1. Heat oil to 180 degrees. I use a deep fryer but you can shallow fry if preferred.

Put chick peas, garlic, salt, pepper, onion, cumin, ground coriander and fresh coriander, baking powder, chilli powder and flour together into the bowl place lid on but leave meausuring cup off.

1 min/speed 5 using spatula throughout to move ingredients around to ensure even consistency. For best results aim for a cous cous like consistency.

Further time may be required on blending to get to desired consistency. You may need to remove lid and mix to ensure all ingredients are evenly fine.

When happy with consistency roll blended ingredients into palm sized balls with hands.

Fry balls in small batches for 7 mins if deep frying, shallow frying may take longer. For best results serve immediately with tzatziki and greek salad.

Tip

Can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Can be re-heated.

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Such an easy recipe. Flavour balance is amazing! I understand the problem with the mixture being a bit sloppy. I made a second batch with 2 tablespoons of flour and only blitzed for 30 seconds, not 1 minute.

Really tasty recipe. These are moorish. Very easy to make. Consistency was perfect. I would amend to include equal amounts of coriander and parsley (large handful each) and zest of one lemon for a bit of a hit. Otherwise, delicious. I made around 36 from the recipe.

These are incredible in terms of flavour! Mine were a teensy bit 'wet'. I'll try to dry the chickpeas on a tea towel next time. I'll definitely be making these regularly!
