Recipe's preparation

    Shahi Paneer Masala
  1. Place cashew nuts into the mixing bowl. Mill at 10 Sec/Spd 9.

    Keep it in the bowl.

  2.

Add Onion, Ginger, Garlic, red/green chillies (optional).

    Chop at 3 sec/Spd 5.

Scrape down sides of mixing bowl with spatula if needed.

  3.

Add Oil and all the dry spices (Garam Masala, turmeric powder, Corinder powder, Cumin powder, MDH Shahi Paneer Masala (this is optional) , Salt (As per your taste)).

Then cook for 10min/100 degree/Spd 2(you can even do this step for 6 mins but I like my onions to be sauted for a bit longer)

I also normally prefer to add more spices as they get bit bland once cream is added. But please avoid if you like it less hot/spicy.

  4.

Add Cream, Water & Tomato Paste (or fresh tomatoes quartered).

    Mix all for 5 sec/Spd 6

  5.

    Cook all of them for 6 mins/100 degree/Spd 2

  6.

Add Paneer (indian cottage cheese) and gently mix with spatula and cook for 5 min/90 degree/Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" /Gentle stir setting"Gentle stir setting" (Spoon Speed).

Please be careful not to mash the paneer while mixing

Please note: if the paneer is very soft, then cook only for 3 mins.

    Serve it with Roti/Naan/Rice.

Tip

I normally mix all dry spices separately in a small bowl. Easier to put all together into the mixing bowl.

You can always play with the spices and make it more or less hot.

If you want to use less oil then you can either add water or increase cream. For eg if you want to use 1TBsp of oil then just add extra 50-60ml of water or cream.

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Yummy. I reckon you could double the spices and get away with it. Substituted the cream for greek yoghurt and the olive oil for ghee. As I was awaiting family arriving for dinner, I put the paneer in the thermo server, poured over the sauce qnd gently stirred it with a spatula. We ate it with saffron rice.
Easy recipe. Made heaps, served with rice, Imused two packets of paneer.

I dont know what I did wrong but mine tastes awful.
I used 2 large onions and cooked for over 10 minutes but the dish tastes very bitter.
Used the right measurements of all spices but did not include the MDH Shahi Paneer because I could not find it.
I have not yet added the cheese as I dont want to ruin more ingredients ?
Any ideas as to why this is ?

This is hands down the best curry I've ever made (and i've tried a lot because Indian is my favourite dish). This was also the very first thing I made in the TM. So some of the instructions were missing but I fumbled my way through and it came out superb. Will definitely be a regular of mine.

This was delicious! I wasnt sure how much onion to add from the recipe so i just added one large one. Was also low on paneer so topped it up with some chopped carrot. Yummy! next time ill brave it and add some more chili. Thanks for the recipe tmrc_emoticons.)
