Ingredients

Chutney

  • 80 g sultanas or raisins
  • 10 g fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 300 g dried apricots
  • 600 g Fresh Nectarines or Peaches, (stoned and roughly chopped)
  • 50 g apple cider vinegar
  • 50 g red wine vinegar
  • 80 g white vinegar
  • 200 g raw sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Red Chili (Optional)
  • 1 bay leaf (optional)

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place sultanas, ginger, garlic, dried apricots (and optional chili) in bowl and chop 4 sec, speed 8. 

    Add all other ingredients (incl. optional bay leaf) and cook 30 min on 100 ºC,Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" , speed 1.

    Put basket in place of MC on top of lid to prevent spitting.

     

    If too runny or need a thicker consistency, cook another 10 min.

Tip

Recipe makes approx 800g Chutney

South African Chutney is trationally served as a condiment or part or a recipe such as required in Boboti.

If preserved correctly, can last many months in pantry and/or fridge.

    Very easy to make and delicious, thanks for sharing!

    I spiced mine up a little w half a teaspoon ea of allspice and ginger as wanted to serve w lamb curry - turned out great.

    Delicious and easy.
    Ginger and chilli flakes gives it a lovely subtle heat in the flavour.
    Great way to use up a tree full of beautiful peaches.

    Delicious! Great recipe and super easy! 

    I did not have red wine vinegar so used 70g apple cider vinegar and 30g balsamic vinegar. 

    I also blended it at the end to make a little smoother, as per other comment.

    Excellent Chantel - quick and easy. I did replace the sugar with 100g rice malt syrup and about 70g honey and still sweet. Next time I might just do 100g honey and see how sweet it is. The peaches were still quite chunky after cooking, so I blended it for about 5-7 sec on sp4.
