Recipe's preparation

  1. Place onion and garlic into TM bowl and chop for 5 seconds on speed 7. Add oil and curry paste and sauté for 3 minutes at 100°C on speed 1.


    Add tamarind purée and cook for 10 minutes at 100°C on Reversecounter-clockwise operation + speed softGentle stir setting. Add prawns and tomatoes and cook a further 5 minutes at 100°C on Reverse + speed soft. Check that the prawns are cooked thoroughly before proceeding to the next step.


    Serve with steamed rice and sprigs of fresh coriander or mint.*Tamarind purée is available in most Asian supermarkets. Tamarind juice can also be used but increase the quantity to 55g.


    Don’t be tempted to use a commercial red curry paste, you will not get the same fragrant result.

    Wanted to use up some tamarmind puree so this was a good choice. We enjoyed the meal. Prawns were perfectly cooked. Fresh tomatoes were a nice touch. I used commercial red curry paste and can see that it would have had better flavour with a home made paste.

    Thank you for the feedback, we have reviewed and amended the recipe. The prawns are added during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

     Nice flavours but disappointing result. The prawns end up being cooked for 15 minutes. They shrivelled up and were tough. Not sure they need to be cooked for this long. I would swap the steps that the tomato is added and the prawns are added.
