Cupcake Ingredients

  • 4 Musk Sticks
  • 130 g unsalted butter
  • 200 g Self Raising Flour
  • 200 g caster sugar
  • 200 g buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 3-4 drops pink food colouring
  • 6-8 drops musk oil flavouring

Cupcake Icing

  • 15 Musk Sticks
  • 125 g unsalted butter
  • 200 g icing sugar
  • 6-8 drops musk oil flavouring
  • 2-3 drops pink food colouring

Recipe's preparation

    Method for the cupcakes
  1. 1.  Preheat the oven to 180 celsius 

    2.  Line muffin tray with 12 paper cases

    3.  Chop musk sticks on 10 secs/Speed 8.  Set aside.

    4.  Melt butter 3 minutes/40C/Speed 2

    5.  Add all the remaining cupcake ingredients, including chopped musk sticks and mix 20 secs/Speed 4 Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation"

    6. Cakes are ready when an inserted skewer comes out clean.  Leave them to cool.

  2. Method for the icing
  3. 1.  Break up 8 musk sticks in to mixing bowl and grate 15secs/Speed 8

    2. Softened butter 1 minute/37C/Speed 2

    3. Add butterfly, food colouring and musk flavouring and beat mixture 30 secs/Speed 4

    4. Add icing sugar and grated musk powder and mix together 30 secs/Speed 4

    5. Using a pip bag, decorate cakes with icing

    6. Using a knife, chop musk sticks in to pieces and 1-2 on top of each cake to finish off.

     

Tip

If you can't get musk essence, you can try finely grating about 3 musk sticks into mixing bowl, and rosewater essence and heat up on for 1 minute/50C/Speed 2.  You'll need to quickly add that to the mixture.  So trying doing it between Step 3 & 4 in the cupcake method and 1 and 2 in the icing method.

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
