I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
Weigh sago and milk into TM bowl then remove bowl and place in fridge to soak for a minimum of 1 hour. (If you need to use your TM for something else you can soak the sago in a bowl - just use 1/2 cup sago and 2 cups of milk).
After soaking, place bowl onto thermomix and cook at 90 degrees/"Counter-clockwise operation" /Speed 3 for 18--20 minutes or until sago is cooked (sago will turn clear when ready).
Add sugar and cook at 90 degrees/"Counter-clockwise operation" /Speed 3 for 2 minutes.
Serve hot with fruit and cream; or pour into serving dishes or moulds and chill until set. Turn out moulds and serve cold with fresh or canned fruit.

Nice flavour, halved sugar but very gluey.
Yet to try cold but mine was also gluey and not like sago I've made previously. My sago disappeared-maybe it cooked down? I didn't add all the sugar - maybe only 50g as I served with coconut cream and passion fruit syrup.
Sorry, mine didn't set, was very runny, so I've made a varient from my mum's recipe and it has worked perfectly
Like most, I tried this and found it very gluey.....I added a jar of mango pieces to it, and now it tastes just like mango glue!!!!!....tastes lovely, but the texture is a bit off. It's in the fridge now, so hope it will be better when cold, as suggested.......always worth a try.
First time I used the recipe with a little less sugar - wasn't cooked properly. Second time, I used one cup sago two cups full cream milk and left it in the fridge overnight. I weighed in 50 grams caster sugar and blitzed in TM a few seconds then added the soaked sago and cooked on 90 degrees for 20 minutes stirring backwards and I started on speed three but then went down to speed 2 and less after 12 minutes. Turned out much better - a little gluey but that made no difference to hubby and the girls.
I only cooked for 15 mins, it was gooey more than gluey! Quite liked it even though it was different. Will do again, thanks
Thanks
This was nice and sweet, i love sago and love that it's been converted to the thermomix....it was a little gluey but i ha;ved the recipe and i mite soak it longer next time.

I can't make Princess Steph's comment a tip but she suggests serving the pudding cold which will make it less gluey.
Sorry everyone is finding this gluey. It is the same as when cooked in the traditional way, I think sago is just gluey by nature and you either like it or you don't.
