Ingredients

Pasta

  • 50 g grated parmesan cheese, add more to taste
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 20 g oil
  • 375 g tin light evaporated milk
  • 600 g water
  • 300 g Penne Pasta
  • 100 g block light cream cheese
  • 2 chicken breast, diced bite size (2cm cube)
  • 2 bunches asparagus, or other veg

Recipe's preparation

    pasta sauce
  1. chop garlic 5 sec / speed 6-7

    add oil and saute 3 min / 100 deg / sp 1

  2. add water, evaporated milk, parmesan, penne pasta

    and seasoning to TMX bowl.

    place chicken and vegetables in the Varoma bowl

    (chicken) and tray (veg) and place varoma in position.

  3. cook pasta & sauce with Varoma on top

    15 min / Varoma / sp 1 / REVERSE

    check and turn chicken half way if necessary

  4. add chicken and cream cheese to TMX bowl (with the pasta and sauce)

    and cook 5 min / 100 deg / REVERSE / sp 1

    (use spatula to incorporate chicken into sauce if necessary)

    set asparagus/vegetables aside

  5. check chicken and pasta are cooked through

    (if not add a few minutes as required).

    Taste sauce and add flavour/seasoning as preferred -

    ideas - mustard, cheddar or blue cheese, nutmeg, parsley..

    stir through 1-2 mins / REVERSE / speed 1-2

Tip

This is a basic cheese sauce and is thick

(a bit like kids macaroni cheese)

season to personal taste.

You can use different pasta, just adjust cooking time if required.

    I followed this recipe but it didn't work for me. My pasta was over cooked and chicken under cooked 😥

    If I used zucchini noodles instead and cooked these in varoma, how much water so you think I will need?

    Very yummy. i added wholegrain mustard for extra flavour and didn't have evaporated milk so used normal milk and it turned out lovey.

    This was lovely.  Steamed the asparagus, chopped into small pieces and mixed it into the pasta & chicken mixture.  Even my fussy 8 year old asked for seconds. Thanks for the recipe!

    So glad you enjoyed it! My kids love it to and I don't have to feel so guilty about such a creamy sauce tmrc_emoticons.;) 

    If you find it too thick' just reduce or even leave out the cream cheese. Frozen veg (peas, corn, broccoli, cauli) can be thrown in with the pasta for extra veggies for the kids, just add a little extra water if necessary.

    We have done this twice as my children love it.  Love Thank you so much and too easy, we use corn pasta as we are gluten free and it works really well.  tmrc_emoticons.)
