Recipe's preparation

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 160 and line two baking trays with baking paper.

    2. Insert brown sugar and caster sugar - 10 sec / speed 8.

    3. Add butter - cream together - 55 sec / speed 4.

    4. Add egg and vanilla - 5 sec / speed 4 and scrape sides.

    5. Add flour - 15 sec / speed 4.  Scrape sides - 5 sec / speed 4.

    6. Add choc chips - 15 sec / Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" / speed 3.

    7. Spoon tablespoon size balls (see tip below) about 5cm apart.

    8. Bake for 10-15mins depending on your oven until slightly golden.

    9. Transfer to cooling rack and then store in airtight container.

Tip

Tips: I say "balls" at step 9, but they're really tall, thin peaks. I find by shaping them narrower and taller they spread a little less and give a higher end product that is chewier in the middle.

Disclaimer:  This is my adjusted version of the recipe found on the Cadbury Chocolate Bits packet.

Costs: As at Feb '15, the recipe costs:

- all Homebrand - $2.44, or 7.6c per piece

- all brand names - $6.42, or 20c per piece

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

So good. It had less sugar than some of the other choc chip recipes I looked at and was the perfect level of sweetness for us.

I added an egg yolk, and half teaspoon bicarb soda - which makes them bit more chewy, also put in fridge for a couple of hours before baking (I roll a log and cover with baking paper)
