Ingredients

Sauce

  • 250g white vinegar
  • 250g water
  • 200g sugar
  • 2tbs tomato sauce
  • 1tbs Sweet chilli sauce
  • 1tbs soy sauce
  • 1tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion (cutter thick slice)
  • 2 carrots (cutter thick slice)
  • 1 red capsicum (cutter thick slice)
  • 430g Tin Pineapple Pieces
  • 1tbs cornflour
  • 2cm piece ginger
  • 1tbs olive oil

Pork

  • 500g pork, strips or cubes
  • 1 egg
  • 3tbs cornflour
  • 1tsp Chinese 5 spice
  • 1/2 tbs soy sauce

Rice

  • 400g basmati rice
  • 600g water

Recipe's preparation

    Sauce
  1. Place garlic and ginger in mixing bowl. Chop 3 sec / Speed 9. Scrape sides of bowl and repeat until chopped well.
  2. Add onion, carrot, capsicum, and olive oil. Cook 5min / 120 deg / REVERSE SP spoon / MC off.
  3. Add water, sugar, and vinegar. Cook 3min . 120 deg / REVERSE SP spoon / simmering basket on top.
  4. Add tomato sauce, sweet chilli, soy, worcestershire, pineapple pieces (reserve juice for later). Cook 10min / 120 deeg / REVERSE spoon / simering basket on top. (add more sugar, water, sauses etc to your liking).
  5. In a small bowl combine 1tbs cornflour and 1tbs reserved pineapple juice. Add to mixing bowl thwn cook 2min . 100 deg / REVERSE spoon / you may need to use spatula to help stir.
  6. Set sauce aside in thermoserver to keep warm, or leave in bowl if you have a second BBL.
  7. Pork
  8. Pre heat oven to 200 deg and line a baking tray with silicome mat or baking paper.
  9. In a bowl add egg, cornflour, 5 spice, and soy sauce. Mix well to combine. Add pork pieces and coat well.
  10. Place pork pieces on lined tray, try to have slight gaps between peices. Cook for 10 mins, give a toss/ turn pieces over and continue to cook for another 10 mins or until cooked.
  11. Rice
  12. Place simmering basket on mixing bowl lid and weigh rice. Rinse well under tap.
  13. Tip rice into bottom of mixing bowl. Add water.
  14. Place simmering basket on lid instead of the measuring cup. Start rice cooker mode.

Tip

You can use chicken instead of pork.
