Ingredients

felafel

  • 500 grams dried chickpeas, soaked overnight
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 1/2 bunch mint leaves
  • 1 egg
  • 1 heaped teaspoon cumin ground
  • 1 heaped teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 80-120 grams Self Raising Flour
  • olive oil, for frying

yoghurt mint sauce

  • 1 cup greek yoghurt
  • 1 cup Mint Leaves
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Recipe's preparation

    Felafel
  1. Add onion, garlic, mint and parsley to bowl

     

  2. Chop 8 secs speed 7 or until finely chopped

  3. Scrape down sides of bowl

     

  4. Add soaked chickpeas

     

  5. Grind speed 7 15 - 25 seconds until fairly finely ground

     

  6. Add egg, spices and salt, mix 10 seconds speed 7

     

  7. Tip into a bowl and mix in enough flour to make a moldable consistency (mixture will be a bit sticky). Do not mix flour in Thermomix as felafel can become tough.

     

  8. Fry teaspoons in hot oil until golden

  9. Yoghurt mint sauce
  10. Add garlic and mint to bowl

  11. Chop 6 seconds speed 5

  12. Scrape down sides of bowl

  13. Add yogurt, lemon juice and salt

  14. Mix 7 seconds speed 4

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
