I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
Chop Red Onion, Shallots & Garlic for 3 seconds/Speed 6.
Add remaining ingredients and cook for 30 minutes/100C/Speed 2 on "Counter-clockwise operation" .
Remove MC and replace with Simmering Basket to minimise spitting.
Spoon into a steralised jar while hot.
Tip
This relish/chutney is beautiful with anything, and can be used in place of Ketchup with your BBQ'd meats.
Rapadura or Raw Sugar can be used in place of the Light Muscavado.
Fresh Thyme can be replaced with 1 teaspoon of Dried Thyme.
Depending on the juiciness of your Tomatos, if the relish is still too runny, cook for 15 minutes longer.

I made this today & added 1 red Birds Eye Chilli, i like spice & will add more next time. It was definitely on the sweeter side for my taste so will also reduce the sugar. I cooked it for 45mins & it was the perfect consistency. Similar to the beerenberg consistency of tomato chutney.
I have just made this for the first time, I did add a few more tommies, and I didn't have white balsamic, just normal. And towards the end I added a heaped spoonful of whole grain mustard. My hubby loves it, told me, that's a keeper love
This would still work with large tomatoes wouldn't it? Might just have to strain some of the juice out of the tomatoes before adding them in to cook....
yum yum. I didn't have the muscovado sugar and used brown instead which may have been what made it a little too sweet perhaps. But so moreish nonetheless.
Yummy! I didn't have shallots so just used a whole salad onion. Used red wine vinegar as I didn't have white or normal balsamic, and a quick google said white wine vinegar would be the best substitute.
after reading the other comments, I reduced the sugar but ended up adding a bit more as was too tart with the vinegar. It was very runny so I cooked for an extra 20 mins and threw in some extra spices & it's very tasty, so thanks for sharing your recipe.
I made this today and it is very nice. I added 150g sugar but would probably reduce the amount again next time. Thank you for sharing
I made this relish for my son's birthday to put in and on home made sausage rolls. It was a huge hit. Everyone kept coming back for more and the bowl disappeared a few times. I didn't have any white balsamic so I just used regular and I used soft brown sugar for the sugar. It was so yummy. Will definitely make again.
Oh my gosh! First time I've made this and it is brilliant! I could eat it by itself!! Thank you to the genious who gave us this recipe.
This is the yummiest relish ever. My hubby can't get enough. I have just made another batch, but this time I added 1 MC of tinned pineapple (no juice). Will let you know how it turns out.
