Ingredients

Chinese Sweet Buns/Bread

  • 500 g Bakers Flour or Bread Flour
  • 1.5 tsp Yeast
  • 100 g castor sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 270 g Luke Warm Water
  • 50 g Butter - Cubed & Room Temperature

Recipe's preparation

    Dough
  1. Add Flour, Sugar, Yeast, Salt into TM Bowl. Mix slowly on speed 3. Take MC off and slowly pour in water through the hole.

  2. Once all water added, mix for 10 seconds on speed 6

  3. Add butter and knead Dough mode"Dough mode" for 1.5 min or until all butter is kneaded into dough.

  4. Oil up, Roll into a ball and allow to prove. Once doubled in size, punch down and repeat proving process but only for 15 minutes.

  5. Shape and put in cold oven for 15 min 180C

Tip

This bread is exactly the same as the ones that you buy from the Chinese Bakery.

You can add custard or sweet coconut into the bread before baking.

    I made it this morning as hubby requested and he really enjoyed its very soft and yummi. I added 2 tbsp milk powder and brushed with melted butter and sugar  tmrc_emoticons.)

    Thanks for recipe. Couple of queries. Does it make 25-30 per quantity above? Also, when you talk about adding custard or sweet coconut before baking - do you mean thick custard put in middle of dough, sealed up and then baked. And with the sweet coconut - is that just dessicated coconut and sugar - again put in middle of bun dough and sealed, then baked? thanks. I'd like to try these

    I am soooooo sorry!!! I totally forgot the sugar! I really am sorry abt that! You add it at the first step with the flour etc. First time adding recipes and I'm still learning! My husband loves this recipe and I am chinese and he is Filipino! We have a lot in common! There are lots of things he is not used to which I love. Does your husband like Ginger?! Would love to ask you about some similarities!

    I was really frustrated with this recipe because it doesn't say when to add the sugar!!!!

    I'm a chinese from  Brunei married to a Filipino.  Looking for recipes that will appeal to us.
