Recipe's preparation

    Dough Preparation
  1. Place water into bowl and heat 1 minute, 37 degrees, speed 1.

  2. Add yeast, being careful of the blades.  Mix for 1 minute, 37 degrees, speed 1.

  3. Add flour, salt, sugar, yoghurt and oil.  Roughly combine ingredients 5 seconds, speed 6.

  4. Knead dough for 2 minutes, Dough mode"Dough mode" .

  5. Turn out dough onto ThermoMat and set aside for 1 hour to double in size.

  6. After about 30 minutes, preheat oven to 220 degrees.  Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.

  7. When dough is ready, punch down and devide into 6 equal portions.

  8. Roll each portion into a thin oval/oblong shape.  Dust with a little extra flour if needed to assist with rolling.

  9. Bake for 5-6 minutes or until puffed and starting to brown.  Don't let it get too brown as you don't want them crispy.

  10. Allow to cool.  When ready to use, cut a slit across the top and fill with your favourite salad and cold meat!

Tip

Don't be tempted to push the air out of the puffed pitta when it first comes out of the oven... It's HOT!!

    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Really easy to follow. Had a little situation with the baking paper catching fire, but through no fault of the recipe! They puffed at around the 4 minute mark and turn brown super quick, so keep your eye on them! Delicious with some thermy coleslaw and ham. Thanks for sharing.

These are not only delicious but they are super easy to make too! I've been searching a long time for pita breads which taste like the ones I used to get back home, now I've found them in this recipe so thank you!
