I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
Peel and slice apples. Arrange in Varoma and cook for 17 minutes on Varoma Temperature speed 2.
Stir apples occasionally to help with even cooking.
Once cooked set aside and cool slightly.
eigh Butter, flour & sugar and mix on speed 6 for 6 seconds
Set "Dough mode" speed for 30 seconds and add egg and water. Mix until combined. Mixture should be slightly sticky but not wet. If mixture is too wet add a little more flour.
Half mixture and press half into a lined slice tin. Press out with your tips of fingers or a spoon. If mixture is sticky, flour your finger tips to help with pressing into tin. Spread steamed apples over the pastry base.
With the remaining mixture, press out on to a piece of glad bake the size of the tin. Once you have the desired shape turn upside down and place on top of apples and peel off the glad bake. Prick with a fork and sprinkle genoursly with raw sugar.
Bake in 180 C oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with runny cream or icecream or slice and put in lunch boxes.

This is delicious. Iced with basic white icing and sprinkled with cinnamon - just like my mum used to make
Was a bit lazy and used tinned apples and used a brownie tin which was the perfect size. Kids loved it warm after school and the rest in the fridge for lunch boxes tomorrow.
Thanks for the share
Apple slice: Really nice!!!! Not too sweet.
I followed the recipe exactly, but because of the size of my pan, I had to double the pastry amount. My tin measures 25 cm x 37cm.
I used 1kg unpeeled Granny Smiths, then peeled and sliced them and microwaved them to save time. (Next time I will cut my apple slices into smaller halves).
For extra flavour, I sprinkled over the steamed apples a mixture of 4 ml cinnamon and 2 ml ground cloves before adding the top layer.
Baking time was 35 min at 180 C.
Great go to recipe when time is limited. Old fashioned baked goodie. Thanks.
Great recipe. I have to admit to major cheating in that I used tinned pie apples. I was looking for an extremely easy, quick recipe to make kids school snacks using up some tinned apples I had. I used a 20x30cm slice tin, and worked a treat! Will make again, maybe with real apples next time!
I didn't have granny smiths just an abundance of Fuji so I made this without all the sugar (cut it back drastically) and wow, sensational - did have the recipe sugar in the pastry tho. will do again under the same circumstances and recommend it highly to those wanting to cut their sugar intake down some.

Yum, not too sweet. I added 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to the apple once steamed. Also a handful of sultanas sprinkled over the apple before the top layer of pastry. Lovely with fresh whipped cream thank you
Yummy loved it !!!
Really quick and easy Worked well in 20cm square tin.
Thanks
Yum a household favourite .
